Abstract: |
September to October 2005. Oxford Archaeology carried out an area of strip, map and sample at land north of Aspreys, Olney. Although residual flintwork provided evidence for low-level early pre-historic activity, the earliest features took the form of an Iron Age pit alignment extending across the eastern part of site. After the pits had largely silted up one was selected for the interment of a crouched inhumation burial, highlighting the continued significance of the alignment through time. Subsequent activity on the site included late medieval/post-medieval ridge and furrow cultivation and quarry pits. |
