Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was required by Thomas and Adamson, on behalf of their client prior to the development of a plot of land at Plot 7a, Newbridge, Edinburgh (NGR: NT 121 731). The watching brief works revealed the remains of a medieval field system, including a linear ditch feature and pits, one of which included the in-situ remains of a buried ceramic vessel. Further fragments of pottery were recovered from the ditch feature, as well as during general cleaning of the excavation area adjacent to the recorded archaeological features. A programme of post-excavation is envisaged, which will focus primarily on the pottery assemblage to ascertain the form function and date of this material. |
