Abstract: |
This geomagnetic survey followed up from a desk based assessment and was carried out as part of a planning application for new housing. The survey used a geomagnetic technique utilising Bartington Grad601-2 dual fluxgate gradiometers in a zig-zag traverse. The sample interval was 0.25m and the traverse interval was 1m. The survey revealed two possible ring ditches consistent with prehistoric roundhouses, along with soil filled ditches and traces of former ridge and furrow cultivation. These were subsequently excavated and proved to be a previously unrecorded medieval post-mill. |
