Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation consisting of 5 trial trenches. The investigation indicated that the establishment of the Salesian College during the late 19th century and further works during the 20th century truncated any potential archaeological horizon including any potential structures that previously stood on the site. Natural brickearth deposits, consistent with the geology of the area, were encountered in all but one of the trenches at heights varying between 2.51m OD and 3.08m OD. The variance in heights was considered to have been caused by groundworks during the foundation of the Salesian College. |
