Archaeological excavations associated with the continuing expansion of Flixton Park Quarry revealed evidence for multi-period activity. The principal periods identified were: Early Neolithic (pits), Early Bronze Age (funerary monuments), Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age (settlement), Late Iron Age/Early Roman (field system) and post-medieval (field system).
