Abstract: |
Five geo-technical test pits were excavated along the southern boundary wall, with an additional two along the northern boundary wall. Sands and gravels of the natural Kempton Park Gravel Formation, as illustrated on the British Geological Survey Sheet for the area (Sheet 57 Romford), were encountered in all three test pits from a high point of 1.34m OD in the east descending to 1.05m OD in the west of the investigation area. Subsoil deposits were noted in all three test pits sealing the natural gravels. These were in turn capped by thick layers of modern made ground/garden soil type material. |
