Abstract:		 During the late spring of 2011 NPS Archaeology undertook an excavation adjacent to Spring Road, Bardwell on behalf of Baker Construction ahead of new housing. The work revealed a series of gullies, pits and post-holes of established (and possible) medieval date. Several post-holes located on the eastern side of the site appeared to be part of a post-built structure dating between the 11th and 13th centuries, although the sparse amount of pottery and other finds recovered might suggest that the building did not have a domestic function. Other evidence of activity at the site seemed to be largely contemporary with the structure and may represent medieval plot boundaries, a small enclosure and general medieval 'backyard' activity.
