Abstract: |
Trimley St Martin, land at and adjacent to The Mushroom Farm, High Street (TYN 122, TM 273 375) an archaeological desk based assessment for a proposed residentail development identified the site as having medium to high potential to contain archaeological deposits of pre-historic, Roman and Anglo-Saxon date with cropmarks nearby demonstrating multi-period activity. The site was glebe land and revealed no evidence for historically recorded activity until the construction of The Rectory, now called Longland House, in the 19th century, this is a listed building. The area of the site under The Mushroom Farm is considered to have suffered some ground truncaton while the remainder is potentially well preserved having been pasture in the recent past. |
