Abstract: |
Intermittent monitoring of cable trenches dug around the perimeter of RAF Lakenheath Area 5 did not encounter any archaeologically relevant deposits or artefacts other than confirming the extent of the old dried peat layers that are known across the airfield. Several areas of modern disturbance were noted, with a layer generally 0.3m thick of redeposited/churned soil covering the majority of the area possibly due to construction of the bomb stores. |
