Abstract: |
An examination of the Suffolk Historic Environment Record, documentary and cartographic search, and aerial photograph and a site inspection, has set both the original 44ha proposed development area (PDA) and a secondary area of 20ha within its immediate archaeological landscape. In general the topographic location of the PDA and the known archaeology of the area suggests that there is a moderate to high potential for encountering multi-period archaeological remains within the PDA and that such deposits are likely to be in a good state of preservation and of local or regional importance. It is suggested that further archaeological investigation may be able to identify and assess the extent, character, density, depth and level of preservation of any archaeological deposits within the PDA, and it is recommended that such investigation takes place, if possible, prior to submission of a planning application. |
