Abstract: |
A trenched evaluation consisting of five trenches measuring a total length of 120m were excavated in Reydon Business Park on the 23rd and 24th of July 2014. The evaluation was carried out as a condition for planning consent on planning application no. DC/14/1298/FUL. The evaluation identified two small pits that were observed cutting from immediately beneath the top soil, one of which contained fragments of coke. No definitive dating evidence was recovered but it is thought that due to the recent agricultural use of the land, the coke and the features stratigraphic position that they are at the earliest post-medieval in date. |
