Abstract: |
Archaeological watching briefs were undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology during groundworks associated with gas main replacement works located at Cathedral Green I, Bartholomew Street, West, Bedford Street, Northernhay Street, North Street and Cathedral Green II (and in most cases works extended into neighbouring streets) within Exeter city centre. Significant archaeological remains were revealed at all of the above sites, except Bedford Street. These remains comprised features, structures and deposits (primarily comprising structural and funerary activity) dating to the pre-Roman, Roman, post-Roman, medieval, late medieval and post-medieval periods. |
