Abstract: |
An archaeological field evaluation took place as part of the consideration of a planning application for close care accommodation, access and parking on land to the north-east of Manor House Nursing Home, Merton, Oxfordshire. Several pits, two lines of post holes and a recut ditch were present. Three phases of activity were present. Firstly, pottery indicated an early-middle Saxon phase of activity on the site followed by medieval occupation. The site then appeared to have been abandoned, perhaps during the 14th century, when the land was used for agricultural purposes. [Au] |
