Abstract: |
The project revealed an historic field boundary that was removed in the latter half of the 20th century, and limited survival of post-Medieval ridge and furrow. The site was part of the Medieval Royal forest of Melksham, and it is suggested that the land was wooded until disafforestation in the 17th century, therefore precluding any earlier settlement activity. |
