Abstract: |
Programme of archaeological excavation was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology at The Woolmarket Car Park, The Waterloo, Cirencester, Gloucestershire. The works comprised the excavation of two areas in advance of the construction of two lift pits. Roman rubble deposits, possibly associated with the demolition of buildings within insula XVII of the Roman town of Corinium, were encountered. Two wall foundations were revealed, probably relating to division of medieval plot boundaries. The north-east/south-west wall foundation may be a boundary wall delineating the grounds of the former Archebalds's Manor House. A number of post-medieval pits and cultivation soils were also identified. |
