Abstract:		 Wessex Archaeology was commissioned by Winchcombe Playgroup to conduct an archaeological watching brief for the erection of a new security fence within the scheduled area of Winchcombe Abbey (Scheduled Monument # 28873). In total 27 postholes were excavated. The postholes were between 0.20m and 0.25m square and less than 0.82m deep. No archaeological features and no clearly archaeological (pre-modern) deposits were encountered within any of the postholes.
