Abstract: |
Wessex Archaeology was commissioned to undertake a programme of archaeological evaluation on land at Norton Hall, Mickleton, Gloucestershire. The results of this evaluation show a very close correlation to the results of the earlier geophysical survey which successfully identified the archaeology present. A sub-divided enclosure was located, dated to the Romano-British period. From its form it seems likely to be a small farmstead or cattle enclosure. Two ditches identified in the western and northern parts of the Site can be seen to correspond to boundaries visible on the 1884 Ordnance Survey map. |
