Abstract: |
A detailed gradiometry survey was conducted over approximately 22.5 hectares of grassland. A number of linear and curvilinear anomalies, along with a number of former pits, provide evidence of an area of settlement activity. Further linear anomalies and possible pits may be archaeological in origin, though the linear anomalies may be related to agricultural activity and the pits may be natural. Ridge and furrow cultivation and former field boundaries suggest the site has a more recent agricultural past. Areas of strong magnetic debris are of unknown origin, but may be related to a former watermill. The remaining features are natural or modern in origin and include a former pond, a footpath, a track-way, underground services, magnetic disturbance from overhead cables, and nearby ferrous metal objects. |
