Abstract: |
As part of the celebrations for the Queens 80th birthday Channel 4 Wildfire TV commissioned OA to take part in excavations at Buckingham Palace over the August bank holiday 2006. Five trenches were excavated revealing evidence for Henry Wise's 18th century canal and rubble from the demolition of a staircase to the garden terrace. Layers of flint cobbles and gravel associated with drainage for the gardeners and architect John Nash's landscaping of the gardens in the 1800's were also found. |
