Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in March 2013 at 167 Barnwood Road, Gloucester, Gloucestershire. Three trenches were excavated. Roman features were identified immediately to the north of Barnwood Road. These included a pit, ditch, possible trackway and walls that were aligned with Roman Ermine Street, which the modern Barnwood Road follows. All pottery dated from the mid- 1st/early-2nd century AD or could be assigned to this period. A medieval and a post-medieval boundary ditch/pit were also identified. |
