Abstract: |
A detailed gradiometry survey was conducted over approximately 27.5 hectares of arable farmland in Sittingbourne, Kent (Fig 1). Positive anomalies of probable archaeological origin have been identified (Figs. 8-10) which may relate to the site of a roman cemetery, or field boundaries and enclosures. Weaker anomalies of possible archaeological origin have also been identified although they may equally be of natural origin (Figs 8-10). The remaining anomalies are of modern origin (Figs 8-10), and include agricultural activity, buried services, magnetic disturbance, areas of natural variation and scattered magnetic debris. |
