Abstract: |
Wessex Archaeology has been commissioned by CgMs Consulting to carry out an archaeological evaluation on land at Wrexham Road, Chester, Cheshire, NGR 339250 363750. The work will comprise the excavation of 24 x 50m trenches in advance of a residential development. The northern part of the Site has been subject to a desk based assessment (DBA; CgMs 2013) and a scheduled medieval moated site lies immediately to the east of the proposed trenches. As a result of the potential for significant archaeological remains, and following discussions between Mark Leah Planning Archaeologist for Cheshire County Council (CCC) and CgMs Consulting an archaeological evaluation was proposed in order to determine the need for further mitigation ahead of development. |
