Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in October 2018 on land off Station Road, Berkeley, Gloucestershire. Thirteen trenches were excavated. The evaluation identified alluvial and buried soil deposits along the western extent of the site, close to the course of a stream. An east/west aligned ditch, from which a sherd of late prehistoric pottery was recovered, cut through and was sealed by the alluvial deposits. Ditches correlating to geophysical anomalies and/or boundaries depicted on 19th-century maps of the site were recorded in a number of trenches in the central and eastern areas of the site. |
