Abstract: |
John Moore Heritage Services carried out a programme of archaeological investigation at Carlyon Cottage (formerly Eubury Ring), Condicote, Gloucestershire, in 2016 and 2017. The site falls within the area of a scheduled ancient monument, Condicote Henge (SMC S00135713), a sub-circular henge defined by two concentric ditches with a central bank, surviving as a partial crop mark and ephemeral earthworks. A series of overlying layers were observed, and interpreted as plough accumulation from the levelling of the bank portion of the monument. A shallow gully was also discovered due north of the presumed entrance. |
