Abstract: |
John Moore Heritage Services was contracted to undertake work on Whitehill and Bordon Relief Road Phase II which was carried out between 18/11/2016 and 27/11/2017. Four Areas were monitored periodically during this time. No archaeologically significant features were observed, with the exception of a late 19th century or early 20th-century masonry storage tank in Area 4, approximately 100m to the north of Oakhanger Road. Modern rubbish (e.g. glass bottles and food wrappers) were clearly evident embedded in the topsoil in all areas. In all areas, heavy tree rooting had disturbed the natural from the pre-existing wood which was cleared prior to the monitored stripping, but no archaeology could be seen. |
