Abstract:		 A watching brief was maintained by Archaeology South-East on behalf of Wilmott Dixon Construction Ltd during ground works associated with the construction of the Mid Sussex Special School. Groundworks revealed topsoil overlying a subsoil, heavily truncated in places, overlying the natural Weald Clay substrate. A single feature associated with the removal of a tree stump relating to a probable old field boundary in the late 19th or early 20th century was identified.
