Abstract: |
Archaeology South-East (ASE), the contracting division of The Centre for Applied Archaeology at the Institute of Archaeology, University College London, were commissioned by Rydon Construction to undertake a Phase 2 archaeological evaluation at Durand Close Estate, Carshalton, London Borough of Sutton, (Fig 1, NGR TQ 2780 6610). Evidence of late 19th Century activity was found in the areas that we investigated, but nothing that pre-dated this. There is a large amount of truncation on site, both from the large housing blocks that have very recently been demolished and the services leading to these. |
