Abstract: |
Archaeology South-East was commissioned by Tom Dommett, Regional Archaeologist (West Sussex and South Downs) of the National Trust to assist in the delivery of a community archaeology project at Maria's Seat, Walk Wood, Sheffield Park, East Sussex (NGR 541650 124320) The manual excavation of test-pits revealed that the mound was made up of successive dumps of locally available 'natural' clay. An enigmatic brick structure was encountered on the summit of the mound, and a small assemblage of post-medieval material was recovered. |
