Abstract: |
An evaluation of the area was conducted by John Moore Heritage Serives between 16th and 24th April 2007. Twenty four trenches were excavated revealing two palaeolithic channels and a three phase sequence of alluvial deposits. Associated with this sequence were two phases of human activity. A large number of ditches, pits and postholes were recorded. The majority of which are undated, but are considered to be contemporary with nearby Roman remains at Oxford Road which shows a similar sequence. |
