Abstract: |
John Moore Heritage services carried out a heritage investigation of the potential for archaeological remains and the impact on any heritage asset concerning the proposal for an extension of Kempsford Quarry, Kempsford, Gloucestershire. The earliest recognised archaeology in the search area are Bronze Age round barrows. This is followed by areas of extensive Iron Age and Roman field systems with settlement. The settlement was abandoned in the late Roman period, and he medieval village of Kempsford developed to the southwest of the proposal site over earlier Roman features. |
