Abstract: |
Archaeology South-East was commissioned by Orion Heritage to undertake an archaeological evaluation at 4 Canterbury Road, Sittingbourne, Kent. The evaluation comprised three machine excavated trenches. The natural Thanet Sand was recorded between 12.00m and 13.71m aOD. Substantial horizontal truncation was observed with the natural deposits uniformly overlain by modern made ground with asphalt and concrete surfaces present in the east of the site. A probable hedge line was recorded running perpendicular to Canterbury Road; this feature could not be dated. |
