Abstract: |
The site lies within the medieval settlement of Ingatestone and is close to the medieval Parish Church of St Edmund and St Mary. An archaeological trial-trenching evaluation carried out in advance of the construction of a new house to the rear of 23 High Street, Ingatestone, revealed four post-medieval/modern features consisting of two wall foundations, a gravel surface and a pit. They are likely to be part of an earlier building on the site that fronted onto Stock Lane. |
