Abstract: |
Wardell Armstrong Archaeology was commissioned to undertake an archaeological evaluation. The work was required to ascertain whether any archaeological remains would be impacted by the pipeline excavation. The close proximity of the pipeline to the Roman settlement of Kirkham and the medieval settlement of Little Plumpton meant that the route of the pipeline had the potential to impact upon hitherto unknown archaeological features. During the course of the machine strip of the pipeline easement and associated groundworks no archaeological features or deposits were encountered. |
