Abstract: |
The building was recorded prior to its planned demolition. Based on the survey and analysis of the available historic maps, it seems likely that the original 'Lodge' for the Camden Park Estate was built in the mid 19th century. This original building was then either demolished or substantially altered at some time between the 1930s and 1950s, and the present structure was subsequently built, largely on the former building's footprint. An extension (Room G) was added to the new building before 1960, and it is possible that Rooms I and J may have been added at a similar date. The fact that this building was always referred to as 'The Bungalow' indicates that the former function as a lodge was no longer required, and the property was used for residential purposes until recently. The historic maps suggest that no major changes to the structure of the building took place between 1960 and the time of the survey. |
