Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology during groundworks associated with geotechnical investigations on three separate coastal flooding and erosion management schemes at sites in Alverstoke, Seafield and Forton in Gosport Hampshire. No finds, features or deposits of archaeological interest were observed during the geotechnical ground works, and no artefacts pre-dating the modern period were recovered. It is clear from the observed works that modern development has had a severe impact within the footprints of the three observed sites, and that potential for survival of archaeological remains is low. |
