Abstract:		 Magnitude Surveys was commissioned to assess the subsurface archaeological potential of a c. 7ha area of land at Green Lane East, Rackheath, Norfolk. A fluxgate gradiometer survey was successfully completed across the site. The identified geophysical anomalies are characterised by weak magnetic enhancement in comparison to the surrounding background. Possible archaeological activity has been identified as very weak anomalies that that correspond with cropmarks previously interpreted as enclosures and linear features. Anomalies related to historical agricultural use have been detected and have been interpreted as ridge and furrow features, a plough headland and a former field boundary. Natural variations have also been identified, with superficial sand and gravel deposits creating a mottled affect across the site, as well a possible paleochannel detected in the south. The impact of modern activity on the results is generally limited to magnetic disturbance along the field edges.
