Abstract: |
In advance of residential development trial trenching comprising 4 trenches examined a possible common edge location in Little Fransham, Norfolk. Field walking combined with documentary research had previously identified a number of medieval settlements in the parish. The trial trenching recorded a medium-large ditch cautiously dated as medieval which might have defined a common edge. No suggestion of occupation in the vicinity was recorded, with features limited to three ditches, perhaps field boundaries of medieval or later date, and a small assemblage of medieval pottery, a single struck flint and a 20th century metal badge the only finds recovered from the trial trenching. |
