Abstract: |
A total of 99 heritage assets have been identified from the study area, all of District or County (Lesser) significance, due to their presence within a National Park. The research has found that the proposed development site itself lies in agricultural land, historically within Lancashire North of the Sands, in an area whose archaeological features predominantly relate to post medieval agricultural activity. As the development relates to the installation of a new water tank, adjacent to an existing water treatment works, it is unlikely that further archaeological work will be required to mitigate against the effects of the development on known heritage assets outside the site boundary. As there remains the potential for as-yet unknown archaeological features to survive within the proposed development site, and that these would be of a significance of at least District or County (Lesser) level, due to their presence within a National Park, it may be that further work will be required, dependent on advice from the Lake District National Park Authority Archaeology Service. |
