Abstract: |
The site of the proposed development comprises a 3000m² plot of land within the grounds of the property of known as Goosebec located on the north side of Church Walk at the west periphery of the village. Four evaluation trenches were excavated forming a 5% sample of the site. Two trenches measured 30m in length and 1.8m in width, and two trenches measured 15m in length and 1.8m in width. Two features of archaeological interest were recorded including a linear ditch of 11th century date and a road or trackway of likely post-medieval date. The ditch probably served as a property boundary within or on the periphery of the medieval village. |
