Abstract: |
Following a previous evaluation on the site in 2012 an excavation was carried out on the northern area of the site, part of which was also previously investigated in 1995. A Roman road is thought to follow the approximate line of Old Kent Road which lies adjacent to the site. Work concentrated in areas which had not been affected by the petrol tanks of the garage which had been on the site. A series of five Roman ditches were found, including part of the ditch identified in 1995. No evidence of the Roman road was found and it is therefore most likely that all the ditches found represent field boundaries or parts of a drainage system. |
