Abstract: |
The locations of the evaluation trenches were recorded by MOLA by offsetting from adjacent standing basement walls. The measurements were drawn onto a site survey supplied by the developer. This information was then plotted onto the Ordnance Survey grid by MOLA Geomatics. Levels relate to the OS Ordnance Datum and were calculated by from survey points provided by the contractor. Two trenches were excavated in the northern part of the site revealing natural gravels overlain by natural clay. The first trench revealed that natural deposits had been truncated by 20th-century landscaping carried out after houses on the site were destroyed by Second World War bombing. The second contained the concrete slab and portions of brick wall from one of these buildings, which were sealed by the same landscaping. |
