Abstract: |
Trent and Peak Archaeology was commissioned by RPS to conduct an archaeological trial trench evaluation ahead of a scheme works to construct a warehouse facility on Land off Park Lane, Castle Donington, Leicestershire. The work was carried out between the 24th and 28th August 2020. The evaluation comprised the excavation of five trenches within the site which were placed in order to identify the continuation of Iron Age features previously identified during a trial trench investigation conducted by Northamptonshire Archaeology in 2010. All trenches excavated demonstrated the presence of archaeology which comprised medieval furrows, 19th/20th century drainage features and several undated features which may relate to the aforementioned Iron Age activity within the site (Flavell 2010). |
