Abstract:		 A watching brief was maintained during the excavation of the footings for five houses constructed at 1 Cricketfield Road, Seaford, East Sussex. Two evaluation trenches had previously been excavated on the site in 2009, but since this time the site had been landscaped creating two platforms and the former house had been demolished, also a quantity of soil had been imported onto the site. The footings at the northern end of the site were excavated in the backfill of the demolished house, with the ground level of the southern end of the site being raised with the spoil from the previously excavated footings. This increase in the ground level meant that there was only a shallow impact on the original ground surface. The footings were sterile of archaeological features, with only a small assemblage of Post Medieval artefacts being recovered.
