Abstract:		 A watching brief was maintained during the ground-works associated with the construction of four three-bedroom houses on land South Court, Gillsman Hill, St. Leonards-on-Sea, east Sussex. Ground reduction and the excavation of foundation trenches was monitored, but aside from some late post-medieval/modern material, no finds or features of note were recorded during the watching brief, with no trace being found of the 19th century lodge that previously stood on the site. It is likely that past landscaping and the construction of the tennis court had removed any evidence for past archaeological activity.
