Abstract:		 Archaeological Evaluation, Coopers Beach Holiday Park, Church Lane, East Mersea, Colchester, Essex, CO5 8TN. The work was undertaken in advance of the proposed construction of an extension to the holiday park consisting of 60 holiday lodges along with associated roadways, parking and other infrastructure. The site currently comprises an area of overgrown scrub to the west of the existing holiday park. Nine trial trenches were excavated, within the areas of the proposed roadways. The work was carried out between the 9th and 11th of September 2015. No features or finds of archaeological interest were revealed. Modern dumping was observed in Trenches 2 and 7 but no other disturbance was recorded. It is concluded that the lack of archaeological remains recorded within the evaluation trenches indicates a low potential for the presence of archaeological remains from any period across the site.
