Abstract: |
An archaeological excavation was undertaken during the construction of a new driveway at Stepstile Meadow, Flanchford Road, Reigate, Surrey. The work involved reducing the existing ground level to the natural geology, in order to provide a suitable base for the driveway. The reduction would impact on any potential archaeological remains and it was therefore proposed to archaeologically excavate (preservation by record) the areas not previously impacted by development. The excavation took place from the 10th to the 19th of November 2008. The investigation revealed only sparse archaeological remains dating to the prehistoric and Roman periods. |
