Abstract:
Two areas of 1365 sq m and 475 sq m were excavated. The excavation was carried out as intended and revealed a range of deposits more or less as expected from the findings of the evaluation. No additional features accompanied the late Iron Age cremation burial which was radiocarbon dated to between 52 cal BC and cal AD 78. The medieval features would have been unremarkable were it not for the density of pottery wasters in some of the fills, clearly indicating a kiln site nearby, although no kiln structure was found. A gully next to the waster pits was radiocarbon dated to cal AD 1272-1304.
