Abstract: |
Fourteen trenches were opened mechanically under archaeological supervision. The results provided evidence of how the site had been heavily disturbed by the construction of the former hospital complex from the late 19th century onwards. Further disturbance had clearly taken place when the hospital buildings were demolished in the late 20th century. Very few traces of the walls and floor surfaces of the hospital were revealed in the evaluation trenches, although several associated services were recorded. |
