Abstract: |
Northamptonshire Archaeology was commissioned by Bellway Homes to carry out an archaeological excavation on land at Peace Hill, Bugbrooke, prior to development of the site. The works was carried out in two phases between December 2012 and January 2013. To the north there were two ditches and a large pit and to the south-east there was a large linear ditch. There was a single shed of residual middle Bronze Age pottery, however, all the features produced similar hand-built pottery which has been dated to the early-middle Iron Age, with a radiocarbon date centred on 400 cal BC. Earthworks of the medieval ridge and furrow cultivation system survive in part of the area and the remnant furrows were seen across the excavated area. |
