Abstract: |
A detailed magnetometer survey was conducted over approximately 8 ha of land at Trimley St. Martin, Suffolk. The report has been produced to support an Outline Planning Application (Access to be considered) for the erection of up to 139 new homes (including provision of up to 46 affordable homes), land for a 2-form entry primary school with pre-school, open space, SUDS and all associated infrastructure provision. The application area is for approximately 7 hectares but the survey covered other land in the applicants ownership. No definite archaeological anomalies have been identified; however, a few linear trends of uncertain origin have been mapped. These could have an archaeological explanation, though they are equally likely to be a result of agricultural activity. A corroborated old field boundary and responses associated with the former Guncorner Lane have been identified, along with evidence for modern ploughing and an underground service. |
